Discover the Aspects of Web Design Part 1
Before starting the process of web design there are a few things you should familiarize yourself with. Even if you are having someone else develop your website you should still be somewhat familiar with some aspects of the website so you can be clear in what you want or need from your web design team. You do not need to be fluent in all aspects of web design, unless you are creating the whole thing yourself, but otherwise if you have some understanding you should be fine. In this two part article we'll go over a few of the aspects of web design that will make things a little more clearly to you when going through the process.
Design: The design is probably one of the most important aspects of web design and thus it should not be taken lightly. The design of your website should appeal to the type of customers you wish to attract and it should be the first thing you think about when starting your web design. When you begin working on your web you should be mindful of many aspects such as the color scheme, layout of the content and the various types of media you wish to use. During the web design process your design may change here and there to accommodate new ideas, but the overall look and feel should stay the same in ways that appeal to your demographic. As we said that this is probably the most important aspect of the web design you should have somebody with a skilled hand and much experience to work on the design. If a potential customer visits your website and thinks that it is sub-par they might get the impression your company is sub-par as well.
Navigation: When you are working on your web design project, it is very important to plan out the whole navigation of your website. This aspect of web design is quite important because having a website that is hard to navigate will turn potential customers away to another website they can navigate with ease. When planning out your web design make sure to plan out your navigation thoroughly and get it tested out with some feedback. Normally navigation works in a format like a tree, your homepage is the tree trunk, while your other pages are branches, then some pages branch off to other pages, and some stop at the leaves (your products or information). Make sure during your web design you include links to the previous branches as well as a link to your homepage on many pages. This will make it easier for your customers to find what they need with ease.
These are just a couple of the things that make for good web design. Make sure to look for the next article where we will cover the other aspects of web design and website development such as different types of websites as well as the methods for marketing your website online.
